Kyiv Calls on Hungary Not to Give Instructions to Zelensky and to Become Independent from Russia: Sibihan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andriy Sibihan, has urged his Hungarian counterpart, Peter Szijjarto, not to give instructions to Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky. “It is not necessary to tell the President of Ukraine what to say or do, and when to do it. He is the President of Ukraine, not of Hungary,” Sibihan wrote on the X social media platform.

The dispute arose from Szijjarto's reaction to Zelensky's statements. Zelensky hinted that the attacks on the Druzhba oil pipeline are directly related to Hungary's position regarding Ukraine's EU membership.

Earlier, it was reported that the Hungarian Foreign Minister interpreted the Ukrainian leader's words as a threat and stated, “Convey to Zelensky to stop threatening Hungary.”

Commenting on Szijjarto’s remarks about energy security, Andriy Sibihan called on Hungary to diversify its oil supplies and to “become independent from Russia, like many countries in Europe.”
