Criminal Proceedings Initiated Against 41 Individuals for Unrest in Gyumri
The Investigative Committee has initiated public criminal proceedings against 41 individuals regarding the mass unrest that took place in Gyumri. According to reports from the Committee, 24 of them have been subjected to arrest, 15 to house arrest, and one individual is under administrative supervision. This was reported by Azatutyun.
Among those arrested are the grandchildren of Gyumri's mayor Vardan Ghukasyan, Narek and Gevorg Ghukasyan, the head of the illegal construction department Arthur Mesropyan, and the mayor's advisor Ashot Petrosyan. Also placed under house arrest is the mother-in-law of MP Karen Sarukhanyan from the ruling party.
It is also known that two minors are involved in the case, with one subjected to arrest and the other to house arrest.
The criminal proceedings were initiated following the arrest of Gyumri Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan. His supporters gathered near the city hall, leading to clashes that resulted in a tense situation and multiple detentions between police and citizens.
