Chemical Production in Ukraine May Be Halted

Chemical production in Ukraine may be halted due to issues with gas supply and electricity outages, according to Strana.ua. “Business owners have already been warned about serious difficulties not only with electricity but also with gas. At the regional level, enterprises have been instructed to prepare for gas quotas. The production of chemical substances will likely be completely stopped, while the production of other goods will sharply decrease,” the publication stated in a message on its Telegram channel.

Earlier, former Ukrainian Energy Minister Yuri Prodhan announced that the country would experience electricity and gas outages this winter. He also mentioned that the coming winter would be much tougher than the previous one, urging citizens to retreat to their summer cottages where they can heat themselves with wood.

In turn, Alexey Kucherenco, deputy chairman of the Supreme Rada’s Committee on Energy and Housing and Utilities, announced on October 11 that the start of the heating season in Ukraine would be delayed as much as possible due to gas shortages.
