Fuel Prices Rise in Armenia, Reports 'Zhoghovurd'
'Zhoghovurd' newspaper reports that fuel prices in Armenia have increased. For several days now, regular gasoline has been sold at gas stations across Armenia for 350 drams per liter. According to business operators, the reason for this rise is the increase in the dollar exchange rate, which has affected the prices of imported goods.
'Zhoghovurd' reached out to the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition of Armenia regarding the increase in gasoline prices, and they indicated that a study is underway and results will be communicated in due course.
For instance, in member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, of which Armenia is also a part, gasoline prices vary. In Belarus, the average price of a liter of gasoline is about 357 drams, in Russia it is about 320 drams, in Kyrgyzstan approximately 225 drams, and in Kazakhstan about 204 drams per liter.
Additionally, it is worth noting that Armenia has the opportunity to import gasoline from Kazakhstan under preferential conditions, as the agreement is in effect. The authorities in Kazakhstan eliminated export duties on petroleum products for everyone starting April 1 of this year, due to the drop in oil prices; however, these duties may be reinstated in the future, which would not impact Armenia.
When the announcement was made regarding the import of gasoline from Kazakhstan, the public expressed hope that gasoline prices would significantly decrease. However, as we can see, there has been no positive movement on this issue yet.
