Aliyev and Putin Hold Phone Conversation: Details

The Kremlin's press service reports that Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed bilateral cooperation issues with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

"They reaffirmed their commitment to continue the development of trade and economic ties and to implement joint projects in the fields of energy, transport, and logistics," the press release states.

The parties also discussed various aspects of regional cooperation and the international situation. They agreed to continue communications at different levels.

The conversation took place on October 9th, following their discussions during the CIS summit in Dushanbe. At that time, Putin informed his counterpart about the causes of the AZAL aircraft crash. He also expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would continue in a spirit of alliance.

For his part, Aliyev thanked the Russian president for personally overseeing the investigation into the causes of the crash. He also noted that relations are developing successfully across all sectors, without delays or setbacks.
