People Involved in the Deliberate Arson of the Nubarashen Landfill, Mayor Says

"I know that a process is underway, different people have been interrogated, it is very important to document what has been the basis for that statement.” This was stated today by Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan during a press briefing after the government meeting, referring to his declaration that the Nubarashen landfill was set on fire intentionally.

“Three processes have taken place: first, the management of the landfill has been taken from a private company and the contract has been canceled by the city hall. Second, two days before the incident, certain individuals talked about things at the landfill, indicating that something would soon happen. And third, the city hall is now installing a comprehensive video surveillance system there, imposing restrictions on the entry of various vehicles, and monitoring in that area will be quite strict from now on,” he said, adding that people have already been involved in the case.

When asked what happened to the Japanese company that had previously come and made investments, Avinyan replied, “The work done by the Japanese company was very important, but it can be said that in its scale, it was merely demonstrational work, very small. It was just an example of how it can work. I would find it difficult to say the details of what it went for and why.”
