Ukrainian Ambassador Proposes Grain Supply via Romanian and Bulgarian Waters
Ukraine is proposing to organize its grain supply through the territorial waters of Romania and Bulgaria, announced Vasyl Bodnar, Ukraine's ambassador to Turkey. According to him, Kyiv has the opportunity to engage companies willing to provide ships for the transportation of grain.
“From our perspective, this could be implemented even without using the agreed route (with Russia, Turkey, and the UN), but rather through the territorial waters of Romania and Bulgaria. This is also a possible option to minimize risks. Of course, there needs to be accountability from the international community,” said the diplomat during a telethon.
The grain deal between Russia and Ukraine was signed in the summer of 2022 with the support of Turkey and the UN. It envisioned the export of Ukrainian grain via the Black Sea and the lifting of barriers to the supply of Russian fertilizers and food products. The grain deal was terminated on July 18 due to unmet demands from the Russian side. Ukraine has urged UN member states to demand that Russia resume the grain deal.
