The Road Passing Through Agdam Should Be an Extension of the Lachin Corridor, Says Toivo Klaar
The EU is working on a solution that will guarantee the rights and safety of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh, allowing people to feel secure in their homes. This was stated by Toivo Klaar, the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus, in an exclusive interview with Alpha News.
“Meetings have been held with various participants in the EU aimed at resolving the situation. I am not saying that this is a simple process, but we are fully and completely engaged in finding solutions to the situation together with various international partners. We are working on a solution that will guarantee the rights and safety of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh, so that people feel secure in their homes. We are striving to establish a dialogue between Stepanakert and Baku. I believe, and everyone believes, that this is an important factor in finding solutions. The Lachin corridor must remain open, and the road passing through Agdam (Aghdam) should be an extension of the Lachin corridor,” Klaar stated.
He emphasized that they understand everyone’s feelings and have very clearly stated that the Lachin corridor must be opened. “But at the same time, I think that any proposal should be utilized not as an alternative to the Lachin corridor but as a supplement,” the EU Special Representative told Alpha News.
