Trump on Postponed Meeting with Putin
U.S. President Donald Trump has stated that he "does not want to waste time unnecessarily," following the postponement of plans for personal meetings with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin regarding the Ukraine war, reports BBC News.
Speaking at the White House on Tuesday, the president noted that Moscow's refusal to halt military operations along the current frontline remains the main obstacle.
Earlier, the White House press secretary had announced that there were no plans for a meeting between Trump and Putin "in the near future" after Trump declared last Thursday that they would hold talks in Budapest within two weeks.
The fundamental disagreements between U.S. and Russian peace proposals have become increasingly evident this week, seemingly undermining any possibility of a summit.
Trump and Putin last met in Alaska in August. According to BBC News, the White House's decision to postpone the second meeting between Trump and Putin may be viewed as an attempt to avoid a scenario similar to previous engagements.
