What Stage Is the Extradition Case of Serzh Sargsyan's Nephew Narek Sargsyan At?

On June 4, the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia announced that the municipal court of Prague had granted the request to extradite Narek Sargsyan to the competent authorities of Armenia. The Prosecutor’s Office also noted that based on their application, the process of extraditing Narek Sargsyan is ongoing in accordance with Czech legislation and procedures.

Armlur.am reports that prior to this, information reached the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' from the Prague municipal court, indicating that from June 22 to 26, a final hearing regarding the extradition will likely take place at the Prague court. Essentially, there is still no final decision, and it remains unclear whether Narek Sargsyan will be handed over to Armenian law enforcement.

It should be recalled that on June 3, the Czech publication Tyden reported that Czechia could extradite Serzh Sargsyan’s nephew, Narek Sargsyan, to Armenia. According to Tyden, the permission for extradition was granted by the Prague court the previous week.

Narek Sargsyan was arrested last December in Prague by Interpol and Czech police officers. He had presented himself under a false identity using the name Franklin Gonzalez, a citizen of Guatemala, along with a fake passport. Narek Sargsyan is accused in Armenia of illegal drug trafficking and illegal possession of weapons.
