Spertsyan Responds Sarcastically to Removal from 'Gentleman of the Year' Nominees List

Eduard Spertsyan, the captain of FC Krasnodar, has responded sarcastically to the nullification of votes in the 'Gentleman of the Year' award nomination, where the midfielder was one of the frontrunners. Earlier, the organizing committee of the award explained that Spertsyan was removed from the list of nominees due to a racist scandal that occurred during the match with Akhmat in the 12th round of the Russian Premier League, which ended with a score of 2-0.

“Finita la commedia, gentlemen,” Spertsyan wrote under a photo from the match against Dynamo Makhachkala (2:0) on his Telegram channel.

During the game in the 11th round, Akhmat defender Ousmane Ndong received a red card for hitting Spertsyan on the jaw with his shoulder in the 85th minute. The captain of the Bulls was given a yellow card for provocation. After the match, the Senegalese accused Krasnodar’s midfielder of racism. As a result of the incident, the Disciplinary Committee of the Russian Football Union suspended Ndong for two matches (one conditionally) and fined Spertsyan 150,000 rubles for offense.
