Scandal at Post-Match Press Conference: Caparros on Resignation Demands
At the post-match press conference following the Armenia–Ukraine football match, Armenian journalists announced that if the national team’s head coach, Joaquin Caparros, does not resign after the 0:5 defeat, they would have no questions left to ask him.
Journalist Robert Markosyan addressed the coach, stating: “Mr. Caparros, you talk a lot about the football laws in your country. But in Spain, if a team loses 0:3, fans raise white handkerchiefs demanding the coach's resignation. If you are not going to resign, we, the Armenian journalists, have no questions for you.” This proposal was echoed by all the journalists present, except for one.
The Spaniard calmly responded that his contract with the Armenian Football Federation ends on November 30, and he will continue to work until that date. Commenting on the match results, Caparros noted, “The scoreline was extremely harsh for us. They approached our goal only five times and scored five times. They operated with maximum efficiency, and that is a sign of a good team.”
It is worth recalling that in the penultimate round of the Nations League B group, the Armenian team suffered a heavy 0:5 defeat against Ukraine on home soil. Our national team will play its next match in the current Nations League on September 27, competing against the Ireland team in Dublin.
