Iran's Foreign Ministry Officially Informs UN

Iran has officially notified the UN that the resolution regarding the nuclear deal has lost its validity. This information is reported by Iranian media.

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has sent a letter confirming Tehran's position that Resolution 2231 has definitively lost its power and ceased to be in effect. He emphasized that Iran has sincerely and fully complied with its commitments under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA).

“Despite Iran's complete fulfillment of its obligations, the United States has, in clear violation of its commitments, initially failed to comply, and then on May 8, 2018, unilaterally withdrew from the agreement while re-imposing and expanding its illegal unilateral and extraterritorial sanctions,” the minister stated.

According to him, these measures were serious violations of international law and the UN Charter, and they severely hindered the implementation of the JCPoA. Araqchi emphasized that the European participants, particularly France, Germany, and the United Kingdom, who initially committed to adhering to the agreement and compensating for the US withdrawal, have not only failed to fulfill their obligations but have also imposed additional illegal sanctions on Iranian citizens and organizations, significantly violating the JCPoA.

“Despite this, Iran has shown maximum restraint and has exerted extensive diplomatic efforts to restore balance and preserve the agreement,” the minister added.
