Iran's Foreign Minister Calls for Restraint from Afghanistan and Pakistan
The foreign ministers of Iran and Afghanistan, Abbas Araqchi and Amir Khan Muttaqi, have held a telephone conversation during which they discussed recent regional developments and bilateral relations. This was reported by the Iranian Mehr news agency.
During the call, Abbas Araqchi expressed deep concern over the recent clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan, calling on both sides to exercise restraint, cease military operations, and resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiations. He emphasized that the ongoing tension between the two Muslim neighbors would not only lead to humanitarian losses but also disrupt the stability of the entire region.
The Iranian foreign minister also reiterated Tehran's readiness to contribute to the de-escalation of tensions and to promote constructive dialogue between the two countries, the Iranian news outlet noted.
For his part, Minister Muttaqi informed Araqchi about the latest developments and stressed that the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan prefers dialogue and peace over military confrontation. It is noteworthy that in recent days, armed clashes have occurred in the border regions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, resulting in casualties and injuries on both sides.
