The Issue of Blowing Up the Power Structure Arises: Andranik Kocharyan
The elite of our nation is known for plotting against one another, as it has happened previously in the Writers' Union. This was stated by Andranik Kocharyan, the Chairman of the National Assembly's Defense and Security Committee, in an interview with NEWS.am.
“Now I understand that there is a struggle for power, the issue of blowing up the power structure is being raised. But my task is to prevent these explosions. If there is a long-term goal to blow up the political system, it must be prevented,” he said in the interview.
In response to a remark that his information as the head of well-known investigative committees could be dangerous for the powers that be, Kocharyan replied, “I am a bearer of power, how can I be dangerous for our power? What I have implemented are programs for the state.”
Kocharyan noted that from a closed meeting of the ruling Civil Contract party (CP), he understood that targeting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is unacceptable. “If there are people who want to blow up the political system, they should also know that they won’t have any chance of success,” he said.
When asked if he has concerns that there is a desire to blow up the political system from within, the ruling party deputy replied, “No, problems are arising from outside. There may be temptations from within, but that’s secondary. The opposition’s goal is clear. Aghvan Vardanyan talks about suicide bombers. What do we need suicide bombers for—physical explosions or ideological ones?”
