Where the Highest and Lowest Temperatures Were Recorded in September in Armenia
The Hydro-Meteorological and Monitoring Center has presented the climatic conditions of September 2025 in Armenia.
The average monthly temperature for September 2025 was 13.1°C, which is lower than the norm by 0.8°C. The monthly precipitation amount was 44.3mm, exceeding normal levels by 140%.
The first decade of September was marked by above-normal temperatures. On September 1, the maximum temperature reached 37.6°C in Ararat and Areni. During the second and third decades of the month, most regions of the republic experienced temperatures lower than normal. The average daily temperatures were especially low, by 2-4 degrees below normal, in the northeastern and southeastern regions of Armenia.
The lowest temperature of the month was recorded on the 21st and 22nd at the Aragats high mountain meteorological station (at an altitude of 3229 meters), with a temperature of -4.8°C. Most of the monthly precipitation occurred during the first and second decades of September, with hail reported in some regions on September 10th and 11th. The last decade of the month was relatively dry.
According to observations since 1935, the hottest September was recorded in 2017, when the average monthly temperature was 16.4°C, while the coldest was in 1956, with an average monthly temperature of 10.4°C. The most humid September was recorded in 1951, with total precipitation of 111.4mm, while the driest was in 2007, with only 1.7mm of precipitation.
Climate change assessments indicate that the average temperature for the month of September in Armenia has increased by 1.5°C from 1935 to 2025, while precipitation has decreased by approximately 13% or 4.2mm.
