7.4 Magnitude Earthquake Near Philippine Coasts Raises Tsunami Threat
A 7.4 magnitude earthquake has struck near the coasts of the Philippines, increasing the potential for a tsunami. This information has been reported by American seismologists and meteorologists, according to RIA Novosti.
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) indicates that the epicenter of the tremors was located 144 kilometers away from the port city of Davao, with a depth of 58 kilometers.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology, the earthquake's magnitude was recorded at 7.6.
Later, the US Geological Survey reported additional tremors at a magnitude of 5.9 and another earthquake of magnitude 6.0 near the coasts of Papua New Guinea.
