Shirak Regional Administration Addresses Gyumri Municipality Statements
Considering the recent publications that have become a topic of various comments on the "Official Page of Gyumri Municipality," the Shirak Regional Administration has issued a statement.
"Government bodies, including the Gyumri Municipality, are required to post information about THEIR ACTIVITIES on their official websites, including official social platforms. This information should be current, accurate, comprehensive, and free of charge. Government bodies determine the content of the information posted on their official websites in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Armenia and the decision of the Government of Armenia No. 1521-N dated December 26, 2013. However, alongside the failure to update the information about the activities of the Gyumri Municipality on their official website and the delays in publishing necessary information, the municipality is using the 'Official Page of Gyumri Municipality' Facebook page as a platform for clarifying personal relationships and political correspondence, which is disrespectful to the residents of Gyumri who expect to see information about the work done on the municipality’s page.
Instead of publishing drafts of normative legal acts and justifications prepared by the government body for public discussion, reports on the activities of the government body, publications about visits and solving issues, the Gyumri Municipality uses its Facebook page to discredit public officials and publish inappropriate comments and assessments. Given the necessity of accurately covering the activities of the government body, we condemn such behavior and urge to refrain from such publications, while exercising the right to free speech on personal platforms," the statement reads.
