Simonyan Discusses Turkey's Foreign Ministry 'Attack' on the Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide in Ankara
The Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, addressed the statement made by Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the 108th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide during his visit to Ankara, as reported by the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in response to inquiries from Sputnik Armenia.
On April 24, Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement condemning what it termed "Armenian terrorism." Sputnik Armenia has requested a comment from the Armenian Foreign Ministry regarding Turkey's Foreign Ministry's declaration.
"The issue was discussed by the Prime Minister of Armenia, as well as during the framework of the Speaker of the National Assembly's visit to Ankara," the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported. However, they did not disclose the format in which this took place. Nevertheless, during the meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, Simonyan did not address the topic in his speech, judging by the video released by the parliamentary press service. It was also not mentioned in the parliamentary statement about the meeting between the Speaker of the RA NA and his Turkish counterpart.
It should be noted that Alen Simonyan traveled to Ankara in early May to participate in the meeting of the heads of parliaments of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly member countries. During his visit, Simonyan met with the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, Mustafa Sentop.
