Statement from Spartak Ghukasyan’s Defense Team

The defense team of Spartak Ghukasyan, the son of Gyumri's Mayor Vardan Ghukasyan, has issued a statement: "The defense team of Spartak Ghukasyan has substantial concerns regarding the pressure applied against Vardan Ghukasyan by the country's top leadership. They suspect that artificial grounds are being prepared to detain his son, Spartak Ghukasyan. Specifically, attempts are being made to create false justifications that he has violated the conditions of the 'house arrest' measure imposed on him.

We hereby inform that Spartak Ghukasyan has never violated the conditions of the 'house arrest' measure applied to him. Moreover, it has been registered by the RA Probation Service that the electronic devices used to monitor Spartak Ghukasyan's behavior have issues, specifically that there are areas in his residence where there is a loss of signal. This circumstance may likely be presented as a violation of the detention measure.

Additionally, as a means of exerting pressure, unacceptable behavior has been adopted, such as the police troubling Spartak Ghukasyan's family early in the morning based on fabricated grounds and attempting to invade their home.

Spartak Ghukasyan's defense team expresses its concern regarding the political and illegal application of legal tools to this extent, and calls on law enforcement agencies to remain within the bounds of the law and legality.
