Life of Missing Serviceman's Uncle at Risk After Transfer to Jail, Lawyer Claims
Arsen Ghukasyan's life is in danger following his transfer to the Nubarashen penitentiary. This has been reported by Sputnik Armenia.
Lawyer Tatev Sogoyan stated that the health condition report and disability status of Arsen Ghukasyan were presented to the responsible authorities from the very beginning. Despite this, the court chose to impose imprisonment as a severe measure, which directly contradicts the government's decision, as Ghukasyan has several medical conditions that are incompatible with the conditions of detention.
“Ghukasyan suffers from ischemic heart disease—chronic coronary syndrome, has experienced multiple heart attacks, has been stented three times, and has a supporting device installed to aid heart function, in addition to having a significantly high risk blood pressure (Stage 2). On the day of his arrest—October 6—an ambulance crew documented that Ghukasyan was complaining after receiving a blow to the chest during the incident, which may have damaged the heart defibrillator device. He was advised to urgently seek medical assistance from the facility where the device was installed to rule out any malfunction, which has not yet been conducted. This situation puts his life at high risk,” she stated.
It is noteworthy that on October 6, relatives of missing servicemen, Apijan Sargsyan and Arsen Ghukasyan, were arrested, with the former being released shortly after while Ghukasyan remained in custody. They are facing charges of hooliganism and interference with the legal service or political activities of a public official during a protest demonstration near the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia on September 29. On October 7, it was reported that Arsen Ghukasyan would be detained for one month.
