Karen Vrtanesyan: "Nikol's Confession Went Unnoticed"
Karen Vrtanesyan, the coordinator of the specialized site "Razminfo," writes: "Amid yesterday's meaningless uproars, Nikol's confession went unnoticed, that he has yielded to Erdogan's demand. In short, Nikol has agreed to work in the ‘3+3’ format, thus officially making Turkey a participant in the Nagorno-Karabakh settlement process.
This step not only officially positions Turkey as one of the dictating parties but also inevitably marginalizes the Minsk Group further from the process. Quoting the capitulator: ‘In the coming days, if I’m not mistaken on December 10, a preliminary meeting of the ‘3+3’ or ‘3+2’ format is to take place, and yes, the Republic of Armenia will participate at the level of the Deputy Foreign Minister...’
And the fact that he supposedly does not remember the exact date of the meeting or the format is a petty maneuver, creating an impression of the event's insignificance. In reality, with this step, Azerbaijan and Turkey have reached their long-cherished dreams pursued for nearly two decades, while this marks one of the largest diplomatic defeats for Armenia since 1994.
How many people noticed this? How many understood the meaning of Nikol's words? How many tried to inform the public? Yesterday and today, what has been the number one topic of discussion in the media?"
