Accused in Ararat Mirzoyan Assault Case Faces 7 Years of Imprisonment

The accused in the assault case involving Armenian Foreign Minister and former National Assembly Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan, Torgom Asatryan, is facing a potential 7-year prison sentence. During a supplementary hearing presided over by Judge Zhora Chichoyan at the Yerevan Court of First Instance, the prosecuting attorney recommended the maximum penalty of 7 years, citing that Asatryan committed the offense as part of a group, with particular brutality, under martial law conditions.

It is worth recalling that on November 9, 2020, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev issued a joint statement regarding the cessation of military operations in Artsakh.
