Large Quantity of Weapons and Explosive Materials Seized in Tbilisi Ahead of Attack
On October 4, a significant quantity of weapons and explosive materials intended for an attack in Tbilisi was seized in Georgia, as reported by the Georgian State Security Service.
"As a result of operational-investigative measures carried out based on operational information, a large amount of firearms, military ammunition, and explosives with detonators was discovered," stated the agency's announcement.
According to the SSS data, a Georgian citizen, identified as B.Ch., acquired these weapons, ammunition, and explosives at the instruction of a representative from an armed unit operating in Ukraine, as confirmed by multiple pieces of evidence.
"According to existing operational information, the mentioned military supplies were intended for organized group violence and diversionary actions in parallel with an attempt to seize the presidential palace in Tbilisi on October 4. As a result of preventive measures taken by the State Security Service, a group of individuals planning to transport these military supplies and explosives to the center of Tbilisi has been neutralized," the statement said.
The seized firearms, ammunition, and explosives were hidden in a special cache in the forest near Tbilisi. Additionally, the identity of the person who prepared the detonator remote control panel at the request of B.Ch. has been established. This individual has already been transferred to the SSS, and investigative actions are underway against them.
According to the SSS, B.Ch. will be charged in connection with the aforementioned crime and will be put on the wanted list.
