Clarifications on Passenger Transport Regulations Set to be Established
The government has approved the requirements for setting fares for regular passenger transport routes. The adoption of this decision is driven by the need to fill legislative gaps in organizing regular passenger transport in Armenia and to clarify regulations in accordance with the requirements of the law on amendments and additions to the Law on Automobile Transport.
The decision proposes to revise the existing regulation regarding fare increases. Specifically, it suggests that in cases of changes in the routes and schemes of specific routes within unified route networks, the fare should be reviewed, or in instances of the establishment of new routes not planned through a competitive selection process, fares should be set without a competition.
Changes to the fare can be reviewed based on the proposal of the competitive commission and approved by the decision of the relevant authority organizing the route network. Additionally, the decision also establishes procedures for revising fares for route services due to objective reasons (such as currency depreciation or appreciation, changes in the prices of fuel, vehicles, and auto parts, etc.).
