Armenian Citizens in UAE Can Drive with National Driver's License
The delegation led by the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Arpine Sargsyan, who is on a working visit to the United Arab Emirates, was received by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the Emirates, Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Welcoming Arpine Sargsyan, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan highly appreciated the partnership relations between the two countries and emphasized that there are prospects for enhancing and developing cooperation between the two ministries.
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reiterated the necessity of strengthening cooperation between the internal affairs systems of the two countries.
Arpine Sargsyan highlighted the role of the United Arab Emirates in providing an important platform for dialogue between Armenia and Azerbaijan this June and expressed her thanks.
Issues concerning the extension of cooperation between the ministries of internal affairs of the two countries were discussed. The parties agreed to organize mutual visits of delegations and, based on those visits, develop a cooperation agenda.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding.
The agreement, based on the principle of reciprocity, pertains to the mutual recognition of driver's licenses issued by the ministries of internal affairs of both states. This means that Armenian citizens located in the United Arab Emirates for non-residential purposes can drive in that country with their national driver's license, while those who are residing in the country will be exempt from theoretical and practical examinations when applying for license exchange.
Arpine Sargsyan and Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasized the importance of the memorandum, noting that it is a positive step toward strengthening cooperation between the ministries of internal affairs and aimed at relieving citizens of both states from unnecessary inconveniences.
