«I think Russia either cannot, does not want to, or both cannot and does not want to» - Alen Simonyan
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, spoke to journalists in parliament about Russia's statement during the UN Security Council meeting.
“I believe that the statement from our ally could have been much more relevant. Countries that have no close ties with Armenia did this instead. I think Russia either cannot, does not want to, or, at the same time, both cannot and does not want to. I am not surprised; these recent events indicated that it's possible for Russia to issue an assessment in this manner,” said Simonyan.
According to Simonyan, he holds this opinion possibly because the area of responsibility of Russian peacekeepers covers the Lachin corridor. “In other words, they want to diminish their responsibility in this way,” Simonyan added.
