Lavrov on Armenian Side's Refusal to Attend Tripartite Meeting
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed regret during a meeting in Moscow with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov that the Armenian side refused to participate in the tripartite meeting. He noted that Yerevan decided at the last minute not to attend the event. The information was reported by News.ru.
“Today we agreed to hold a meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia in our territory, to continue discussions on the peace treaty. We were preparing for this event, but unfortunately, at the last moment our Armenian colleagues refused to come to Moscow, explaining this by the situation on the ground. It is unfortunate that such an opportunity was missed,” said Lavrov.
It should be recalled that the Armenian side requested Moscow to postpone the planned tripartite meeting, as Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan's primary concern is the restoration of ties with Nagorno-Karabakh. He added that Yerevan confirmed its participation in the negotiations before the blockade of the Lachin corridor.
