Details Presented by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the Murder Case in Parakarg

The spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Narek Sargsyan, provided details during a conversation with journalists regarding the investigation into the murder of the Parakarg community leader, Volodya Grigoryan, late at night on September 23.

According to Sargsyan, a report was received around 23:50 regarding gunfire. One of the deceased was the community leader, while the other was a member of the criminal police. Operational groups of the police immediately arrived at the scene, and an operational headquarters was established under the leadership of the Minister of Internal Affairs.

He noted that within the framework of the criminal proceedings, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, collaborating with other law enforcement agencies, have conducted extensive operational and investigative measures. One individual has already been arrested and presented to the investigative body on suspicion of committing the crime.

During a search of the property belonging to the arrested individual, traces and items related to the crime were found, including a mask, gloves, shoes, and a jacket used during the crime that had been attempted to be burned, as well as a night vision device. Numerous investigative actions are currently ongoing to uncover all circumstances of the case and to locate the firearm used in the crime.

Sargsyan emphasized that given the high public profile of the incident, both the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Investigative Committee will regularly issue new statements.

It is also noted that one of the theories being investigated is that the murder may be connected to an altercation that occurred months ago in Mrdzavan. Earlier reports indicated that the arrested individual is the brother of Grigor Ohanian.
