Authorities Gave Away 26 km, We Are in an Uncomfortable Situation from a Combat Perspective: Arush Arushanyan
Every day a new war could start. No one knows what will happen tomorrow morning. In an interview with "Factinfo," Goris Mayor Arush Arushanyan commented on the likelihood of a new war being initiated by the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem against Armenia.
Earlier, the head of the National Assembly's "Enlightened Armenia" faction, Edmon Marukyan, stated that "Greek Times" warns that Azerbaijan, in conjunction with Turkey, is preparing for a new war, this time against Armenia, with the aim of "recapturing historic Zangezur." Arush Arushanyan did not rule out the possibility of war but noted that he does not have concrete evidence.
"The notorious authorities are provoking every day. I can't say anything definite. If we have a Foreign Ministry, let them handle it. As a citizen of the Republic of Armenia, as a soldier, I am ready to fight again. It’s our land, we must protect it, that’s not up for discussion, but for now, let the diplomats deal with it," said the Goris mayor.
When asked if he sees a threat from the enemy toward Syunik at this time, Arush Arushanyan responded, "I can't say. If they prepare, they won’t show on the front line that they are getting ready. It is clear that their preparedness will be some kilometers away from their lines, which we cannot see. At that time we had quite good positions, and if the fighting were to start at this moment with those positions, it would be good. Now we find ourselves in an uncomfortable situation from a combat perspective. If the authorities hadn’t given away 26 km, we would have had those positions," noted the Goris mayor.
