My Position Remains Unchanged: Onik Gasparyan's Statement
The official website of the Government of the Republic of Armenia has published a statement from the Prime Minister, indicating that I am considered legally dismissed from my position as the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia.
My position remains unchanged: both the published statement and the entire process of my dismissal are unconstitutional. This further confirms that the homeland-friendly resolution of the existing crisis can be ensured solely through the resignation of the Prime Minister and the calling of extraordinary parliamentary elections, as stated in the message from the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Onik Gasparyan.
“In pursuit of ensuring the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law in the Republic of Armenia, I have appealed to the Administrative Court of the Republic of Armenia. I will continue my service to the homeland and the Armenian people in a different capacity.
Dear generals, officers, and soldiers, the exclusive mission of the Armed Forces is to ensure the security of the homeland. Therefore, I urge you to continue your selfless and national service exclusively to the homeland and the people, for the development of the Armed Forces and the strengthening of Armenia and Artsakh,” Gasparyan's message reads.
