Mandatory Mask Wearing in Public Open Spaces Begins Today: Details

According to the changes made to the order No. 23-N by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia on September 11, 2020, to reduce the risk of the spread of coronavirus disease, as of November 1, wearing masks is mandatory in public open spaces outside residential areas.

The conditions for not wearing a mask in public open spaces outside residential areas include:

• Age from 0-5 years inclusive;
• Participants and speakers in ceremonial events conducted under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Armenia, the Catholicos of All Armenians, the Prime Minister, the President of the National Assembly, the President of the Constitutional Court, and the President of the Supreme Judicial Council (excluding journalists and service staff);
• Presence of chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, or bronchitis with severe respiratory failure, and chronic heart failure of functional classes 3 and 4, provided that these individuals have a medical document confirming the relevant condition;
• Engaging in physical exercise or cycling;
• Being in specially designated areas for outdoor recreation, recreational zones, and beaches, in mountains, forests, and similar outdoor areas, but not in parks, city gardens, botanical and zoological gardens, on visits to historical and cultural sites, on pilgrimages, participation in organized individual and group hikes, excursions, walks, trips, and similar activities;
• For television presenters, being alone in the television studio while broadcasting television shows and programs;
• Performing sign language interpretation during broadcasts;
• Individuals with hearing impairments who understand speech by following lip movements;
• Mental disorders and behavioral disorders;
• Cognitive impairments;
• Facial injuries or ongoing maxillofacial interventions;
• Smoking, drinking, and eating.
