Hungary Has No Plans to Recognize the State of Palestine

Hungary has no plans to recognize the State of Palestine, stated Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto. According to the minister, recognizing Palestine does not bring peace to the Middle East but rather exacerbates the situation. Szijjarto cited the Abraham Accords as the only successful attempt to settle the situation.

On September 21, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that London would recognize the State of Palestine. Similar statements have been made by officials from Australia, Canada, and Portugal. On Sunday, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg announced plans to recognize Palestine.

The announcements from several Western countries regarding their intention to recognize the State of Palestine have been rejected and condemned by Israel and the United States. Palestine has previously been recognized by 147 countries, including Russia. Since 2024, the United States has vetoed Palestine's full membership in the UN. Since 2024, Palestine has been recognized by ten states, including Ireland, Norway, Spain, and Armenia.
