18 Fired Shells Found, Incident Recorded: Investigator on Events in Mrdzavan

A masked individual opened fire with an automatic rifle at Valodya Grigoryan, the head of the Parakar community, his friend, police officer Karen Abrahamyan, and Arzruni Galstyan who was with them. As a result, Valodya Grigoryan and Karen Abrahamyan died, while Arzruni Galstyan was transported to a medical center for treatment.

This information was shared by Artak Hovhannisyan, an investigator from the Investigative Committee's Department for Particularly Important Cases regarding crimes against individuals, in a conversation with a correspondent from News.

“A criminal proceeding has been initiated under Article 155 of the RA Criminal Code concerning the deaths of Valodya Grigoryan and Karen Abrahamyan. In addition, a criminal proceeding has been initiated regarding the attempted murder of Arzruni Galstyan under articles 44-155. An investigation is underway,” he stated.

“Immediately, all necessary and priority evidentiary and procedural actions have been undertaken. The crime scene was examined, where blood-like material traces were discovered and samples were collected. 18 fired cartridges were also found and seized. Video recordings from surveillance cameras at the scene have been confiscated as well. A series of expert examinations have been assigned, including forensic medical, forensic pathological, forensic ballistic, forensic genetic, and biological examinations.”

“Several witnesses have been interrogated, and evidentiary and procedural actions are ongoing. Additionally, extensive operational and investigative measures are being carried out jointly with the police to promptly disclose and hold accountable the individuals responsible for the crime,” he added.
