Former SOCAR Official Arrested in Azerbaijan

Adnan Ahmadzad, the former deputy head of the investment department of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan), has been arrested in Azerbaijan. According to media reports, he is accused of mixing Azeri Light crude oil with other raw materials. This has dealt a serious blow to the reputation of Azerbaijan's oil industry and the transparency of the market.
