Erdogan in Contact with World Leaders: US Has Little Influence on Israel, Says Fidan
The United States may not have significant influence over Israeli policy. This was stated by Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in an interview with the Egyptian MBC Masr television channel.
“As you know, there has been a certain reality in American domestic politics for decades. It pertains to the question of who controls whom and who governs whom. In other words, recent events related to Israel's actions in the region have shown that the US actually has much less influence on Israeli policy than previously thought. However, the opposite is also possible,” he said.
Discussing Turkey's efforts to resolve crises in the region, Fidan noted that “President Recep Tayyip Erdogan dedicates a significant amount of his time to these issues, particularly to halting the genocide in Gaza and to international diplomacy.”
“He is constantly in contact with both regional and global leaders. Every time both US President Donald Trump and I discuss this issue, we consistently focus on the Gaza issue and the stability of Syria,” said Turkey's Foreign Minister.
