First Flight Date Announced for Kyiv-Yerevan Route
The Ukrainian low-cost airline Bees Airline will commence flights on the Kyiv-Yerevan route starting May 3, operating twice a week.
According to "AnalitikaUA," tickets with the Light fare will cost 980 Ukrainian hryvnias (approximately 19,000 AMD).
The airline will operate flights from Kyiv to Batumi, Yerevan, and Tbilisi, while flights from Odesa will go to Yerevan. The low-cost airline has already received all necessary permits from Ukraine’s civil aviation authority for these routes.
Flights from Odesa to Yerevan will start on June 14, also with a frequency of twice a week. The ticket price will be 999 Ukrainian hryvnias (around 19,000 AMD).
Ukrainian commentator Marat Hakobyan, in a conversation with "Armenpress" regarding the opening of flights to Armenia by a third Ukrainian airline, stated that this reflects the demand and potential for the route. “Considering that of the three airlines, two are low-cost, this creates additional opportunities for affordable travel. Tourism is one of the sectors where the economic ties between Armenia and Ukraine can develop at a faster pace. Of course, the coronavirus pandemic now poses restraining factors, but these are temporary difficulties. In addition to traditional seaside vacations, health and mountain tourism are actively developing in Ukraine. There are thousands of landmarks in the country, and the centuries-old shared history also provides the opportunity to see hundreds of architectural monuments, places, and structures across the country that are directly connected to Armenians and Armenia,” Hakobyan noted.
According to him, there are also sufficient attractions in Armenia that can interest Ukrainians, including ancient temples, urban architecture, unparalleled mountains, rivers, waterfalls, and lakes. The commentator assured that they would not leave anyone indifferent.
“It is also worth mentioning the popular Armenian gastro-tourism. In Armenia, in addition to the existing sites related to Ukraine and Ukrainians, new attractions are being added, such as the Taras Shevchenko statue opened in the center of Yerevan, and the only skate park being constructed next to the statue is a gift from the Union of Armenians in Ukraine,” said Hakobyan.
