Constitutional Court Accepts Opposition's Application on HEC After Two Months of Silence

The Constitutional Court has finally accepted the opposition's application regarding the constitutionality of laws adopted on an urgent basis concerning the HEC, after more than two months of silence. This was reported by "Azatutyun".

According to Arzvik Minasyan, a member of the opposition "Hayastan" faction, the application was accepted in violation of both the "Law on the Constitutional Court" and the procedural rules of the court. According to the law, the Supreme Court was required to decide within a 30-day period whether to accept the application for consideration or not. The decision has not been published yet; however, Constitutional Court judge Seda Safaryan briefly informed "Azatutyun" that they have not violated the law.

"No deadlines have been violated; everything is legal, in accordance with the law, in line with the letter of the legislation on the Constitutional Court. The discussion of this application has been conducted, and today it has been accepted for consideration. We will publish it on our website, you will see," Safaryan said.
