The Real Number of Casualties in Gaza is Not What Official Data Indicates

The real number of casualties resulting from Israeli actions in Gaza may surpass official figures by 10 times. According to official data, the death toll stands at 65,000; however, it is likely that the actual number of fatalities is 680,000.

This was stated by Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, during a press conference in Geneva.

“The official death toll in Gaza is 65,000, of which more than 75 percent are women and children. We must consider the figure of 680,000, as this is the number that some scientists and researchers believe reflects the true casualties in Gaza,” she said.
