Peskov Comments on Kirk's Murder

The assassination of American activist Charlie Kirk illustrates the deep polarization within American society. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, as reported by TASS.

“This is a matter for American law enforcement to determine whether this is an isolated case or a trend, which is much more dangerous. But it is indeed true that society is now extremely polarized,” he said while commenting on Kirk's murder.

Recall that 31-year-old Kirk was shot on September 10 during a speech at the University of Oregon. He died from his injuries in the hospital. The activist held conservative views, supported former President Donald Trump, and had repeatedly spoken out against American military aid to Ukraine.

The suspect in the murder, Tyler James Robinson, a resident of Utah, was arrested on the evening of September 11. He was turned in to the authorities by his own father, who his son confessed to the crime. Trump declared his hope that Robinson would be found guilty and receive the death penalty. According to Utah Governor Spencer Cox, authorities believe that Robinson acted alone.
