G7 Countries Decide to Use Moscow's Frozen Assets for Kyiv

The finance ministers of the G7 nations have agreed to expedite negotiations regarding the use of frozen Russian assets for Ukraine. They also intend to explore other mechanisms of support for Kyiv.

The ministers' commitments are outlined in a joint statement cited by Reuters. Among other things, it is stated that the G7 countries have agreed to examine possible measures aimed at strengthening economic pressure on Russia.

According to a statement from the U.S. Treasury following the meeting, Washington welcomed the commitments to intensify sanctions pressure on Russia. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessenet also noted that the U.S. has already taken decisive actions against buyers of Russian oil.
