Complaints Arise: Regulatory Measures Applied to Truck Drivers Entering Iran, Khachatryan
Complaints are being received regarding the regulatory measures applied to our truck drivers who enter the Islamic Republic of Iran. When they load cargo and exit Iran, regulatory actions are being taken against our drivers and businesses that are neither stipulated in intergovernmental agreements nor provided for by Iranian legislation. This was stated today in the National Assembly by MP Armen Khachatryan from the 'Civil Contract' faction while addressing Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Armen Simonian.
'For example, our truck enters there and they force it to enter their territory with a very minimal amount of fuel. Then, upon exiting the area, they compel it to fully fill its tanks, charging it 600 drams, which is 50-100 drams more expensive than diesel fuel in Armenia, in order for it to be allowed to leave and return to Armenia,' the MP said.
The Deputy Minister responded by stating that they regularly hear about certain issues regarding entry to and exit from Iran, and that they are trying to find solutions with their Iranian colleagues regarding these problems. 'As far as the exit is concerned, as assured by our Iranian partners, it also pertains to their refuelers. When they exit, they also fill up with that same fuel,' he said.
The MP pointed out that, in reality, there is no such legal regulation and that drivers are operating under non-competitive conditions.
