New Draft on Duration of Leave for Conscripts

“We have adopted a draft law that allows for a leave period of 21 days for conscripts in rear military units, and 30 days for those serving on the front line,” highlighted Defense Minister Suren Papikyan today in the National Assembly.

Addressing the replenishment of the armed forces, the minister emphasized that it will begin on January 7, 2025, resulting in citizens conscripted for mandatory military service starting from the winter draft of 2025 serving a term of 18 months.

“The reduction in service duration will not apply to servicemen who are in mandatory military service as of January 1, 2026,” he underscored.
