Minister Surbuhi Galayan on the 'Western Azerbaijan' Discourse

The Minister of Justice, Surbuhi Galayan, stated during a press briefing that the discourse of 'Western Azerbaijan' employed by Azerbaijan is completely unacceptable. 'Yesterday, various questions were directed to the government, including the Prime Minister, concerning the pre-signed memorandum, and the Prime Minister emphasized the following circumstance: whatever concept is to be discussed or what interpretation is to be given to a particular phenomenon, it must be within the framework of important characteristics such as jurisdiction, territorial integrity, etc., meaning the characteristics that are actually included in the signed documents,' Galayan remarked.

She highlighted that any interpretation cannot contradict those characteristics. Referring again to the actions of Azerbaijanis aimed at 'returning to their historic homeland,' including on international platforms, she said: 'It is their problem; they can do whatever they want; it is their right. We say the following: we live in the Republic of Armenia, this is the Republic of Armenia, and that is final,' the Minister of Justice stated, adding that there is nothing to convince or coerce.
