Iran's Response to Israeli Attacks Was Disproportionate: Macron
The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has stated that Iran's response to the Israeli consulate attack in Syria was disproportionate. His remarks were quoted by RMC radio.
“Iran's response to Israel's attacks was disproportionate since Iran struck at Israel from its own territory,” noted the French president.
Macron also emphasized that the Jewish state has the right to defend itself, but it is crucial to call on the conflicting parties to “exercise restraint to avoid escalation.”
On the evening of April 13, Iran launched dozens of drones and missiles towards Israel. The attack lasted approximately five hours. Israel announced that it had intercepted 99 percent of the missiles and drones fired towards it. Furthermore, the Iranian side reported hitting several military targets within the Jewish state's territory.
On April 1, Israel struck a diplomatic area in Damascus, resulting in the complete destruction of the Iranian consulate building.
