NATO on Incident Involving Russian Drones Entering Polish Territory
NATO does not consider the incident involving Russian drones entering Polish territory as an attack. This was reported by Reuters, citing a source within the alliance.
According to the same source, initial indications suggest that this involved a deliberate infiltration by 6-10 Russian drones.
“This was the first incident in which NATO aviation was engaged in response to potential threats in the airspace of allied countries,” the source emphasized.
It has been reported that NATO radars, including Patriot air defense systems, detected the drones, but no fire was opened. Polish F-16 fighters, Dutch F-35s, Italian AWACS reconnaissance aircraft, and also NATO-operated air refueling aircraft were involved during the nighttime operation.
