High IQ Does Not Always Equate to Success, Says Avinyan

In one kindergarten from each of the three administrative districts of Yerevan, a program aimed at developing emotional intelligence will be implemented. Mayor Tigran Avinyan stated that the introduction of emotional intelligence methodologies in preschool institutions is very important.

“People's successes are dependent on the development of these skills, and in many cases, if we think that people with high IQs are successful in life, that is not always the case. The success of individuals greatly depends on their emotional intelligence development and timely developmental programs. This is why we are implementing such a program for children of this age,” he noted, expressing confidence that positive results will follow.

According to the mayor, children will begin to recognize their emotions and find appropriate ways to communicate from this age: “And this will provide our children with a much larger toolkit for interacting with the outside world in the future.”
