The 20-year-old soldier Benyamin Manucharyan, who was trapped under an avalanche, was from the village of Aytnap in Ararat Province. The unfortunate incident occurred on the day of his discharge from the military, as reported to NEWS.am by Gegham Hovhannisyan, the head of the Aytnap administrative district.

“Benyamin was already being discharged; the incident happened on his discharge day. He was told to come down from the mountain to go home, and he was left under the snow. No further details are being shared to understand how it happened. He was a very good boy, a musician who played the drum and sang. Today he was supposed to be discharged,” he told the media.

Benyamin was the eldest in his family and had a younger sister and brother.

It is noteworthy that earlier, on January 14, the RA Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that at around 14:20, the body of soldier Benyamin Manucharyan (born in 2003) was discovered under an avalanche in the administrative area of Tsghuni village.
