Jalal Harutyunyan's Supreme Court Appeal Submitted with Deficiencies

The former commander of the Defense Army, Jalal Harutyunyan, has submitted a supreme court appeal that contains deficiencies. The Supreme Court has returned the appeal for corrections and has given him 10 days to submit a new one.

The reporting judge for the case is Judge Serjik Avetisyan of the Supreme Court, and the appeal was returned by a decision made on September 2. This has been reported by 'Patsinfon.'

On January 15, the court of general jurisdiction in the Syunik region, presided over by Judge Garik Abelian, found Jalal Harutyunyan guilty under Article 550, Section 3 of the RA Criminal Code, sentencing him to 5.5 years in prison.

The Court of Appeals, led by Judge Mkhitar Papoyan, along with judges Robert Papoyan and Lusine Abgaryan, upheld the conviction against Jalal Harutyunyan in a ruling on June 18. Notably, Harutyunyan had not received the decision from the Appeals Court for an extended period, ultimately obtaining the ruling 'by force' in August, after which the timelines for filing an appeal began to flow.

The issue is that the statute of limitations for the case is nearing its end, and the victim party is concerned that Harutyunyan is deliberately dragging out the proceedings until the deadlines are reached. Eight months after the ruling, it has still not entered into legal force.
