School Principal Accused of Embezzlement

The Criminal Procedure initiated by the Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia has revealed that from 2019 to 2024, the individual who occupied the position of the principal of the "Lernouti Secondary School" State Non-Profit Organization in Shirak Province, having the authority to manage the property of the mentioned organization, including financial resources, embezzled a total of 485,000 AMD from the funds entrusted to them during 2023 by abusing their official powers.

Specifically, in 2023, the aforementioned individual registered a worker for a seasonal heating worker position, who did not fulfill the duties associated with that position. However, aware of this, the principal directed that a salary be paid. Furthermore, in 2023, the same individual appointed another person to the position of the school's accountant, who began performing their job responsibilities only on January 1, 2024. Despite being informed of this, the principal commanded that a salary be paid for the previous four months, effectively embezzling an additional 404,000 AMD.

The principal of the secondary school has been charged under the second part of Article 256, Clause 2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia (two episodes). The pre-trial investigation of the criminal case has been completed, and the materials of the case have been sent to the Anti-Corruption Court of Armenia with an accusatory conclusion.
